"When Chinese culture meets Indonesian culture"

INSPIRATION
This pendant inspired by Indonesia’s wood craft and Chinese ornamentation, fuses together the two indentities I have. The wrapped copper are inspired by my beliefs on how my chinese beliefs cling to my Indonesian culture. The ornamentation that I pierce out are taken from the movement of the original ornamentation and the shape of the chinese leaf.
MATERIALS
The teak wood represents my birthplace, Indonesia, and the copper wrapping around the wood, with its innate reddish brown colour represent my Chinese beliefs. Together, this pendant illustrates that while my Chinese culture will always be ‘clinging on’ to my life and be the force behind all my life decisions, the love and respect for my birthplace will always have a strong and from place in my heart.
